This third 'Avengers' movie, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, is the biggest yet from Marvel Studios, following the nefarious exploits of interdimensional being Thanos (Josh Brolin) as he seeks to claim infinity stones and depopulate the universe. Characters from all of the previous Marvel Studios films join forces to defeat the powerful foe. Visual effects supervisor Dan DeLeeuw and visual effects producer Jen Underdahl oversaw 18 vendors from around the world to realize the show's nearly 3,000 visual effects shots, including close to 700 shots of the computer generated Thanos, delivered by Digital Domain and Weta Digital. Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore, Double Negative, Cinesite and a slew of other visual effects houses also entered the Infinity War fray.

Ready Player One
Steven Spielberg directs this Warner Bros.' film based on Ernest Cline's novel about a young man in a dystopian, near-future Oklahoma City who becomes a hero in the virtual realm of the OASIS. Joining Spielberg and his team on their journey into digital pop culture are special effects supervisor Neil Corbould and visual effects artisans at Industrial Light & Magic, Digital Domain, Territory Studio, Aaron Sims Creative and The Third Floor.

Pacific Rim: Uprising
Jaeger pilot Jake Pentecost (John Boyega) steers his towering robotic assault machine into battle against ravening Kaiju monsters, in this action-packed sequel from Universal Pictures and director Steven S. DeKnight. Visual effects supervisor Peter Chiang enters the Drift with the team at Double Negative, ably supported by Atomic Fiction, Territory Studio and Blind. The Third Floor, Halon and Day for Nite deliver previs, while Legacy Effects and Weta Workshop fabricate specialty costumes. Special effects supervisor Dan Oliver makes those Jaeger Conn-Pods rock'n'roll.

Annihilation
Following the award-winning Ex Machina, director Alex Garland tackles Paramount Pictures' ambitious science fiction project based on Jeff VanderMeer's novel about an all-female team of scientists that venture into the mysterious 'Area X' where the laws of nature no longer apply. Visual effects supervisor Andrew Whitehurst and visual effects producer Roma O'Connor reunite with Double Negative, Milk VFX and artists at Nvizible and Union VFX. Makeup effects supervisor Tristan Versluis, special effects supervisor Hayley Williams and stunt coordinator Jo McLaren provide visceral on-set action.
