The Lion King

Coming off their successful collaboration on Jungle Book, director Jon Favreau and the team at MPC elevate the craft of computer animation to astonishing heights in the remake of Walt Disney Pictures' The Lion King. Working in a modestly-sized black box with the latest and greatest of virtual production tools, Favreau and director of photography Caleb Deschanel shot the film over the course of many months, and then handed shots over to animation supervisor Andy Jones and the MPC crew to transform low-res images into the most beautifully realized African wildlife ever to grace the screen. Cinefex's coverage boasts comprehensive interviews with Favreau, Jones, visual effects supervisors Rob Legato and Adam Valdez, production designer James Chinlund, and the wizards of virtual production.

Spider-Man: Far From Home

Peter Parker (Tom Holland) accompanies his friends on vacation in Europe where, in the guise of his alter ego Spider-Man, he battles sinister forces unleashed by the supervillain Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal). Jon Watts directs the latest adventure for the web-slinging superhero, with visual effects delivered by Sony Pictures Imageworks, Industrial Light & Magic, Framestore, Scanline VFX, Image Engine, Luma Pictures and Territory Studio. Special effects supervisor Andy Williams rigs the practical action on set.

MIB: International

In Columbia Pictures' and Amblin Entertainment’s fourth science fiction comedy — adapted from Lowell Cunningham's comics — dapper-dressing extraterrestrial peacekeepers Agent H (Chris Hemsworth), Agent M (Tessa Thompson) and High T (Liam Neeson), pursue their foe in New York, Morocco, Italy and London. Director F. Gary Gray creates alien action with special effects supervisor Paul Corbould, makeup designer Jeremy Woodhead, visual effects supervisors Jerome Chen and Daniel Kramer, and artists at Sony Pictures Imageworks, DNEG, Method, Rodeo FX, Atomic Fiction and Territory Studios.
